Hi my name is Alan Howatson and this will be my 4th year racing motorbikes. I started in 2005 after buying my first Yamaha FZR 400. I began racing in the 400 Production Class which means that you are using a standard bike with no modifications. The first couple of seasons were a bit of a learning curve but I found myself working my way up the grid, always qualifying in the top five with a best of second position. In the 2008 season I finished 7th in the production championship. In 2007 I purchased a second 400, which was a formula bike, which meant that it could be modified and was more competitive. Unfortunately the engine blew up after only a couple of races and that meant that the bike was out of action for the rest of the season until funds became available. For the 2008 season I decided to invest in a new bike as the 400s are old bikes and it is a lot of work to keep them going. I purchased a new Yamaha R6 and entered into the production class. 2008 was really a year to get to know the bike and for 2009 the intention is to enter the Scottish 600 supersport class
